I am bringing a group of kids into Kawishiwi July 13th. We will be camping on Kawishiwi and I am wondering if anyone has any tips to get these kids into some fish. I am experienced in the BWCA so I know the basics but I am not familiar with this lake. I'm thinking slip bobber & leech, any advise would be appreciated.

I don't know Kawishiwi, but slip bobber and leech is certainly a good start that time of year.

Maybe also some jigging from the canoe....

I've been here quite a bit and never really hammer the fish. So I might be in the wrong areas but here is my areas lol.

Red I do decent with Bass

Black I do alright with Pike (spoons, rapalas, mepps)

Grey I do ok with Walleye (jig and leech or worm) though I caught a lot of perch this way as well.

Leeches and bobbers should work for the kids if they don't have any experience with lures. If you want to throw lures look to use something on the small side and that floats so they don't get snagged. Use something like a Rebel Craw. Look for moving water areas. Maybe try the river area moving towards Farm Lake?
