If we’re trying to target walleye in the Quetico next week (Saganagons), does it make sense to bring a spinner rig set up to use with fake leeches (slimers and gulp)?

10-12 FOW this time of year?

We’re set on jigs/twisters, rapalas....probably gonna leave the slip bobbers at home.

Any clue on lake trout depth right now?

I would just troll crankbaits but I'm sure the spinners in that depth will work also. I'd troll the 30' depth for LT.

Sounds good, I’ve an army of the 30ft deep diving rapalas...probably more than have caught me Lake Trout— I hope that changes this year!

Any thoughts on Walleye depths?

I am back from Saganagons last week and in Ely this week. Water is slowly warming and fishing is improving. Target walleyes in 10 to 12 feet. We found them in bays last week and moving to shorelines this week. Spotty.

Good luck and have fun in Q.

If there are some rollers on the surface you can still use a slip bobber and a fake leech. The rollers will give that lure some subtle action.

Thanks Mike — I packed a few bobbers just in case.

Bottom bouncers and spinners with Berkeley bungy leaches or gulp crawlers on harnesses can be very effective presentations. Those are some of my favorite ways of fishing out of a canoe.

I like a DDHJ #10. 75-80' will get a tuned lure down 10'. 120' will get you down to 15'
