Planning a mid-July trip, entering Trout lake and portage from Trout into Pine lake. On the north of Pine is Pine Creek navigable between Pine and the portage to Chad Lake? Hope to day trip into Chad for bass (and possibly Buck). Taking my 12 year old son. Any areas in Chad to fish for bass? Any areas in Buck to fish for 'eyes?

Use the search function in the messageboard and you'll find lots of previous entries on Pine Creek, Chad and Buck fishing that should give you the info you need. Chad and Buck are both beautiful lakes. You guys should have a great time! If you guys troll some raps around Buck lake you should find what you're looking for. Last time I trolled around Buck Lake for Walleye I pulled up the largest Sunfish I've ever seen. Was a totally nice surprise!

Pine creek has always been navigable when I have went this route. Chad has some nice Largemouth Bass, as well as descent Northern. Never have done well with Walleyes there, but I have never fished it to hard for Walleyes. Buck , on the other hand is probably one of my favorite Walleye Lakes. Although it is not a “big water” lake, it holds some big walleye. I would start fishing around the island at the east end of the lake. There is also a small stream entering along the north shoreline that you can hear, but not see most of the time. Fish around where that water spills into the lake. Might be hard to find it if you have low water.Western is also a great Walleye Lake, I haven’t been there for a few years, maybe things have changed , but I doubt it.

So there's an "island" on the east end of Buck? I don't see it on the map. Thanks all for the info.
