Anyone know what size rain pack cover will fit a CCS Rucksack? Dan Cooke doesn't measure his packs in Liters.

Guessing a 40L, and I can always just bring my pack to REI to test out, but wanted to check if anyone knew.

I would bring it to check fit regardless. You might find two covers but like one over the other. Good luck with your search!

I have a variety of REI Duck's Back covers. The 40L cover measures 21.5" x 13" x 11.75" CCS Rucksack is listed at 22"H x 14"W x 7"D, the Wanderer H-19" W-12" D-7". Checking actual fit is the best way to go, especially considering the possibility of a full top pocket and room underneath.
I have used my REI covers often and like them!

Thanks! The Duck's Back 40L fit perfect with the pack & top pocket fully loaded.

I have a custom Rucksack winging its way toward me via UPS and now I'm curious. I often leave my daypack outside at night during trips. With the rucksack, should I be using a cover to protect the contents from rain? Alternatively, I could keep all precious cargo in dry bags inside the rucksack which would also protect from capsizes.

My previous daypack was completely waterproof (including special zippers) and so I had no worries about leaving it outside, even with cameras inside. It just wasn't big enough for all of my needs.

FYI: the customizations are the mesh side pockets from the Wanderer, a couple of webbing ladders on the front where the hatchet goes on the Bushcrafter in order to attach something such as my Inreach, and attachment loops for when I want to put the Rucksack on my Knupac frame for easy portaging.

Hey Andy! That's almost exactly what I have! I have the beautiful merlot colored rucksack that usually only comes in the wanderer also. Mesh side pockets as well that holds bear spray, and three water bottles, and Karen told Dan to put the wanderer shoulder straps that breathe better on my pack! (What a dream). {I hike with a teal ribbon in her memory.}

Oh, I don't have the webbing ladders, but that would have been a good add. I might see if he can add a "collar" at some point as well. Once I get my URSAK in there its harder to sinch. I use mine for multi-day hiking which is really rare to NOT have an external, or internal frame pack, but I like it. I've hiked 15-16 miles straight loaded at 30 pounds and its been an amazing pack thus far.

Your pack was part of my inspiration. I thought of a bushcrafter but went with the mesh side pockets to make sure I can carry it on planes. I didn’t ask for the other straps but am curious which harness will show up. Glad you like it so much.

It just arrived and does have wanderer shoulder straps on it. Thanks for the inspiration. I’ll remember Karen too.

I’ll take a little credit for the Ursack. I was one of the first people on here using them.

So I just got back from hiking 60-miles with the Rucksack ad the 40L cover was pretty tight to get on and off. I'd do a 30-50L instead.
