Planning a trip for the weekend of September 21 in the BWCA. Was thinking of putting in at Mudro lake and doing a loop via basswood river, crooked, gun, boot.
My question is, do you think we will have any issues with low water on the horse river to enter basswood river this time of year? I have read some old trip reports that suggest this could be an issue. Hoping to get some info on what the current flow is up there and how much that might change between now and my trip.
Just did that exact route last week. Other than the portages we had maybe 5 or 6 spots that required getting out and pulling over low spots between horse lake and the falls. I have never been through there before so i don't know if that is better or worse than normal but it was passable for sure.
