Here were the fall colors on Omega Lake yesterday when I was there for a 7 day solo that ended a couple days early. Packed out 12 miles in 8 hours and the snow was 12-18 inches. It was a wonder I didn't roll an ankle or break a leg because you didn't know where you were stepping with the snow. Mine were the only tracks I saw back in there on the portages until I got to the Poplar Lake portage.

That's crazy prizes14! We almost ran into you. We were up saturday/sunday and were gunning for Omega on saturday night, but ended up stopping at Winchell. We didn't see a single other group on our loop. Really crazy weather that seemed to change every 20 minutes, but man it was beautiful.

Where were you parked at because mine was the only car in the Poplar parking lot? A two day trip loop seems kind of quick as tough as the snow made the portages.
I might have stayed later if I didn't have to pick up camp but I wasn't going to pack up everything that wet and then set up camp in that much snow knowing that I had to be out on Monday anyway. Saturday was actually the best day of the 6 I was out there because the wind wasn't blowing 20 mph.

Yah, you commented on the trip report too, but, yes, we came in Bower Trout and out Ram (so about a 30 mile loop.) I don't know about you, but the portages definitely took longer in the snow. Also, there's something weird about knowing you can't get gear dry. With all that snow and cold, if gear was wet it was going to stay wet. Part of the changing seasons I guess. Glad we were prepared for it.

There was a little color in the willows and grass surrounding Guitar Lake in Sequoia National Park Yesterday. A little bit of last years snow was still left in the shadows. Taken from the John Muir Trail at 14,000 feet.
There is very little traditional fall color here so I appreciate the beautiful photos posted here.
