Ran across some old pics of the Bear Sanctuary. We used to go out there many years ago and visit with Vince . There were many times we were the only people there, and spent many hours visiting with him. I truly cherished his stories of the old logging days. We hand fed the bears back then, I know it wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but luckily there were never any incidents, but Vince would supply us with cookies to feed them. After awhile we just started bringing our own cookies . Vince was always appreciative, he truly loved the company back in the old days. I have only been out there once since they built the new facility. It is a wonderful place, but very different from my memories of years ago. I’m have some more pics of us actually feeding the bears that I will post if I can find them.
I hope you find & post those other pictures. Enjoyed viewing these. I wish I would have been there back in the days when feeding cookies to black bears was acceptable. :) On the third (right) picture, is that a person standing in the field among those bears? (off to the left of photo.)

Wow ! That must have been a long time ago. I have been there 3 times, once before they put in the new platform/giftshop in. We took our sons there in the 90's, and our grandsons in the teens. I would have liked to have talked to him, and just listen to his stories. After looking at some of my photos, I think I recognize some of the background in your pics, the old shack of his, and what now must be either the parking lot or where the old viewing platform (now expanded) used to be.

I was there when it was just Vince and his trailer. I actually found Vince more interesting than the bears. He was something of a horder; I recall he had paths around the piles of junk in there. One of his treasures was a life sized timber wolf mount. He had us in for cookies and a cup of Sanka. Must have been in the late 80's early 90's.
