Got a Kondos daypack for Xmas and I really like it, but I've been going back and forth about whether or not I should get the slightly larger Guide pack instead.

I like to carry my daypack along with the canoe, so I don't want a daypack that can fit too much stuff because I don't like to carry too much on my back while portaging, but I'm tempted by the slightly larger capacity of the Guide pack.

Anyone have experience using both that could weigh in?

All I can say is that I rarely ever use the day pack now that I have the guide pack. I, too, carry with the canoe and find it to be about perfect. We do some pretty long day trips and this pack allows you to take a bit more gear, food, and emergency items in case weather or something keeps you from getting back to camp. The side pockets are a little longer and will hold 2 nalgenes per side better. Remember, too, you don't have to stuff it full!
