Ok you smart fishermen. What is the best methods to catch fish on Crooked June 28th-July 3rd? I have at least one newbie with us so I'd like to get them "hooked" on coming to the BW. (It's my wife so.... you see the importance)

Easiest thing is to find current, and although not easy to find....the far north end of Thursday is "big current" and there should be plenty there for a ways. Jig/plastic, jig/leech, cranks, top water in the eddy and current break areas, slip bobber w/ leech in the calm areas below or next to it. Beware the border is technically halfway across the river there...so unless you have the proper licenses and no live bait and no barbs etc, you can't fish on the Canadian side even though you could cast all the way across it in places.

If you're in Sat/Sun bays head to curtain falls and fish all over in the pools below it since the portage is on the US side.

Have the above post as plan a and if that isn’t producing scout the topo maps of the area and have an idea where the mid lake reefs are and fish them with live bait and bare hooks about 12 inches of leader line connected to a two way swivel tie the other to your main line and then your weight I prefer a small sliding jig. The key is the swivel otherwise you will be dealing with line issues instead of fishing. If you really want to be nuance switch all mine line to braid and fluorocarbon as your leader.

An even simpler way of fishing mid-lake reefs on any lake, IMHO, is just tie a bare jig head straight to mono, fluoro, or braid, just heavy enough jig to fish as vertically as possible, and tip with a partial crawler or leech. Have a marker ready when you contact fish. I've never had line issues this way. But as always, I'm interested in learning and would welcome feedback on the method you outlined above.
