Curious what you folks have planned for solo treks once the water is wet. I was looking forward to a couple weeks in mid June in the Agnes/Kawnipi area, but have changed that as my wife wants to visit pretty much the same area in mid July when she is done teaching summer school.
So, I am keeping it simple this year and will be heading into East Bearskin to fish Caribou and putz around some on day trips; I love that area! Looking at a week or so. Will also do something in August, just not sure exactly what or where. Have never been through Beaverhouse, so that area is calling.

May 14th - Angleworm up to Gun, North to Crooked, East to Basswood, South to Mudro, North to Gun, and back the way I came to Angleworm. I might include the Hegmans.

No contest. Kahsh by a landslide.

7/13 entry for 10 day solo. Tuscarora bunkhouse, breakfast and safe car haven. Shuttle to Saganaga and paddle back. West to Knife, south through Ogishkemuncie and Gabimichigami to Little Saganaga, back east through Tuscarora to Round Lake.
I haven't traveled the area since 1989-90. This will be my first excursion into the heart of the 1999 blowdown and subsequent fires. Could probably have done this route in 4 days in my younger years, but this trip will involve several 2 night stays and lots of exploring.
Only 17 portages, some big water paddling.

Yep"
I had (have) different reasons and goals for the 2 entry points, but it looks like the votes are in! :-)

I will do a solo, though dates are TBD. My work schedule is such that out-of-town travel can come up quickly, so I will go in when I find a break in my schedule. At that time, I'll find an EP with an open permit and book it. I've done many solo trips in that way. I kind of like doing it that way.

I did indeed rock down to Electric Avenue, but I did not take it higher. I regret that.

Early September 12 nighter into Quetico. I’m planning a couple of bushwhacks in the middle of the park. I might have 1 or 2 other solos joining me.

Going to do all the long portages I have seen on the maps.
May swing up and do the Lonely/Yeh and Badwater portages also if weather and my body cooperate.
Already started working out in preparation.

Kudos to you on that route! I haven't paddled below Misquah Lake but have heard that your trip area is great for moose sightings and solitude.
My solo is out of EP47/Lizz Lake. One of my favorite areas that I haven't paddled since July 2015.
Plan is to travel through Gaskin to Omega and then back out. A very leisurely route considering that I have 11.5 days to paddle. My job is stressful so I am looking forward to just going with the flow in an area that I am already familiar with.

No definite plans yet other than Sept/Oct time frame again. I'm not even gonna post how many days as I don't want to jinx my trip again, then hopefully I will make it my intended number of days. LOL. And I have not even started negotiations on length of trip with the Mrs yet. I take it as a good sign that she doesn't want me gone for as long as I want to be gone.

I told my wife all I wanted for my 40th birthday was a week to do the Border Route From Rainy Lake to Lake Superior. Not sure when it will happen, probably September, but I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve got a new solo canoe that I’m looking forward to paddling on this excursion.

I'm heading down the Indian Sioux. I usually travel through Shell, Lynx, Hustler, Oyster and sometimes into Ramshead. This year I'm going to try and do the upper loop as it's called. I plan on going through Fat, Finger, etc. and back down and out through Moose River.

Something in Ontario - possibly Wabakimi - in July or August. Lots TBD.

Nothing for sure yet, no permit reserved. I'm able to be flexible on my dates and when I finally decide it will be 14 days in the Q in area I'm very familiar with and I'll add in some new water.

Lots of moving parts yet. One son will be working in ND/MB and the other working for outfitter, which influences plans. Considering west WCPP with one son, Wabakimi with the other, then extended solo back to either area. After 40-some years of BWCA, I'm excited for the opportunity to visit Canada this summer.

Curious. The middle of the park? I wonder if I know where you are going. I bushwhacked to a lake in the middle of the park that gets one or two groups every other year......
I'm doing a short solo out of Nym and a quickie BWCA trip as soon as the ice melts.

my wife thinks the idea of going solo is nuts. i just can't find anyone local to go with. that would not get buried off the side of the trail. looking like august sometime to algonquin. my jobs going away and i haven't taken any vacations in about 10 years. \ i brought her up there once and she liked the people. but was a nervouse wreck on the water. i'll have to rent a solo,,so i need to pack lighter and save up as much as i can , to afford it.

My plans have changed to going in on the west side with a group. The bushwhack will have to wait.

Using a solo in an August trip with my two sons. If that goes well, I plan on a short solo for mid/late September. I was thinking Crocodile but have been reconsidering to Vern River via Homer. Limited options at Crocodile.

Any plans I have of a solo trip will have to wait until 2021 since my son in law asked to go with me this year. We'll be going into EP-47. It'll be his first trip to the BWCA so I'm happy to take him along. If for some reason he has to cancel, then my June trip will be a solo.
Next year I'd like to take a 10 to 14 day solo trip into Quetico, but I best get through this year before making plans for next year.

I expect to make an 8-9 day late May trip to Knife and maybe Kek mainly to fish. Then in Late July I'll try to get a 14+day trip to WCPP - had to cancel last two years in a row at the last minute so fingers crossed this time.
There's also a high probability I'll get an 8 day trip in somewhere off the Gunflint well before the water gets soft again.

My plan for 2020 is by night:

Fred

Jesse
Maria

I have seven little adventures I have planned during my trip
1/ There are three no name lakes above the main Quetico channel. I have been to the two end ones and I am going to try and get into the middle one via the east end.
2/ I am going back into Tubman and Maxness and the No Name east of Maxness. The only time I have gone into them it was really too windy to fish.
3/ I am going into Wild Goose and Egglet. I have been there twice and there is great walleye fishing.
4/I want to bushwack into the two no name lakes east of Sark. I tried once but not very hard.
5/ I always try to find a way into Kendall north of Gahn and now that the forest fire leveled the bush I may be able to walk it.
6/ I want to return to the two no name lakes east of Lonely. I was in there years ago and there lots of bass and about 20 bald eagles.
7/ I want portage into Draper again and then into the the no name south of Jesse. I have been in the former twice and walked into the latter once.
If anyone has any info on my little adventures, please let me know.

John, what do you mean "by night"? Also, I'm assuming this is 3 weeks and was wondering how you pack and portage for this length? What do you carry your food in? Thanks.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same lakes but I think we are. The chrismar Adventure map does show portages between these lakes. I've been told that the Chrismar portages are accurate.

Hi Tom
Good to hear from you. I have always triple portaged on my three week trips. I carry all my food in one pack and my equipment in the other. I have a day pack with essentials that I carry with the canoe. Since I am out for three weeks I don’t travel light especially now that I can only paddle seven or eight hours a day.
“By night” is where I expect to be each night although it usually isn’t that straight forward!

Haven't made my plans yet. Still trying to decide where and when I want to go. I had a trip planned last year that I canceled. So might do that route this year. But still trying to get a feel from the Mrs. on best time of year to go. She hates me gone during the summer months as she is a teacher and would like me home when she is home. But then she doesn't like me gone during school months since I help get the kids ready in the mornings.

But you might move it into late August start date to potentially add one more solo paddler, right? :)
