Planning a trip mid-June to Knife, then SAK to Kekekabic. Wondering if anyone else has done this trip and been through the portage through Vera and Ensing or come back out the way we are going in.

Is time better spent fishing in SAK and Kekekabic and maybe East? We have 7-nights so plenty of time, but I do want to fish a lot. Adding two 180 rod portages seems like a lot of extra work, but maybe Vera and Ensign are worth it. Looking for some advice and good campsites with shore fishing.

Thank you.

I have done the portages from Knife to Vera and Vera to Ensign many times. They have some of the most spectacular views you will find while portaging. They can also be very tough if wet. You have a lot of up and down as you are beginning and ending your trip. If it is wet, there are some slippery spots while going up and down. Vera is a beautiful little lake with some good walleye fishing. What I call the middle site on the lake has a decent site. We have caught many walleye right from shore after dark on white twister tails.
