I've been curious about the no name lake that is bordered by Poohbah on the north, east, and south with a small no name and Wink to the west. It is pretty good sized, probably similar to Berniece and seems like it would be accessible, but am not sure it would even be worth the trouble. There is a creek entering or exiting on the north and a small pond that is easy to access from Poohbah just to the south that would get you close. Does anyone know anything about this lake? Does it have fish?

There are Lake Trout on the north end, and the southern end has a nice Largemouth population.

Interesting, thanks Lee, Is it better to enter from the north or the south?

I don’t know the best way to enter. I have not been to the lake, but I discussed it with Mark At Zups before I went to Poohbah a couple years ago. He said it was definitely worth fishing. The fishing was just to good on Poohbah to go anywhere else.he also said the no name lake below the south east end of Poohbah was fantastic Largemouth fishing. I suspect it’s just like Berniece. I have been there, and we’ll worth a day trip. I believe Mark said better to enter from the South.

Hello

I have fished the no name lake to the west of poohbah three times over the last ten years. You access the lake via two maintained portages. The first portage is short and begins near a small creek flowing into Poohbah lake. The second portage begins on the north end of the beaver pond, the portage can be hard to see from the water because of marsh grass so you might have to get out search for it. The trail is maintained so it is easy to follow once you find the starting point, it should not take more that 5 minutes.

Like the other poster stated the lake holds both large and smallmouth bass and lake trout. There is a deep hole in the middle of the lake that seems to hold all the lakers while the bass are caught casting topwaters to the shoreline. You will catch bigger bass and trout in Poohbah but I always enjoy taking a trip to the no name lake for a change of pace, it is also a beautiful little lake. Below is a map with the portages marked. Here are the GPS coordinates for the portages in UTM grid format.

1. Start of the First Portage from Poohbah.

2. Start of Second Portage from Beaver Pond.

I have been to this lake and I agree with the previous statements. There are Largemouth in the south basin and trout in the north basin. I caught most of my trout along the west and north shore. The trout in Pooh Bah are bigger though.

Thanks everyone! I never really thought it would be worth the trip for the fishing alone, it's hard to beat the fishing in Poohbah and Wink, but it's fun to go and explore/fish where few people go. I've seen the short portage to the small pond so it might make for a fun side trip next time through. It would have to be easier than Berniece if someone wanted to do a Largemouth day trip which we have done the last couple of times. I haven't been to the little no-name off of the SE corner of Poohbah either. Hope you all have a great and fishy spring/summer!
