For those of you who video your trips, and post them on YouTube, what camera do you use for this? Been watching many videos lately, and it’s made me contemplate doing it myself. Thanks

I don't make videos for YouTube but I bring a GoPro with and you could definitely use one for that purpose. Durable, waterproof, compact, shoots in 4K. There are a variety of mounts available that could be used to attach to different parts of the canoe very easily.

No such thing as best, only those that work for you.
In my case an old GoPro 3+ Black, small rugged short battery life, Paddling Clark
And an Olympus OMD E10 (replaced now with a E1), small for a DSLR, versitile camera system, Putting my Chinook up, fast!

Lots of other cameras out there, including many P&S pocket cameras that do well.

I have been very happy with this camera. Plenty of zoom and fits in a shirt pocket.

Check my videos from the last few years to see what it will do.

Don't know if it's the best, but I take along an Olympus TG-810. It takes pretty good videos, I took one of sting ray I followed around on St. Thomas, plus it is water proof and fits in my front pocket of my jeans. And it can take being banged around.

If you want something easy, a GoPro HERO 6 or after is a great option. They are not cheap, though I'm sure the 6 could be found for around $200 today. If you want zoom capability though, that's an entirely different product category. I use a mirrorless camera from Fujifilm, the X-T3, with their 16-55mm f/2.8 lens. It is not a small or cheap setup but I had it for photography and decided to start doing video with it. There are far cheaper options that'll get you more zoom as well, with still decent optical quality and maybe even better battery life. A GoPro is an excellent way to document a trip though and I wouldn't go without one if that is your intention. Super easy to use, small and easy to store, mountable on tons of surfaces without being shaky (due to weight), and waterproof so you can shoot in any conditions.

I bought this camera a year ago for a trip to Scotland. Have not used it much since that trip. I find myself going back to my old Canon S95 even thought it is lower res.

Not sure I would take it to bwca. It is an expensive camera and not waterproof. The s95 isn't either, but I am willing to risk it.

I store the camera in a Pelican case so when not in use its secure. Since wet days are usually not worth filming it is not an issue for me. I do most of my video filming with a tripod to have the best results I can get. I have been surprised at how well the stabilization feature works when hand holding while video recording. This camera has function buttons that you can assign functions to. I use one button for switching off the stabilizer when using the tripod. When on a tripod the stabilizer on a camera still tries to correct things but will make things worse. This camera can be used as a simple point and shoot but also allows you to really push further if you desire.
