I know alcohol stoves are not acceptable during a fire ban. Does anyone know of a way to make them ok to use? I shut mine down by closing the sliding lid (not the screw on lid) Could that be considered an off/on switch? Is the liquid fuel the problem?
I have a canister iso-prop stove and will take it if necessary, I just don't like the one time only metal canisters. Thanks

Yes, the liquid fuel is an issue. However, the fire ban was updated so that during day use of the BWCA (still no overnight allowed) you can use gas stoves. This is in place until May 17th, but who knows what will happen after that.

It is the spill potential for alcohol stoves, I do not think the shut down valve on the fuel supply is met with the pivoting cover. Take the canister if under a fire ban.
