merlyn: "I know alcohol stoves are not acceptable during a fire ban. Does anyone know of a way to make them ok to use? I shut mine down by closing the sliding lid (not the screw on lid) Could that be considered an off/on switch? Is the liquid fuel the problem?
I have a canister iso-prop stove and will take it if necessary, I just don't like the one time only metal canisters. Thanks"
It is the spill potential for alcohol stoves, I do not think the shut down valve on the fuel supply is met with the pivoting cover. Take the canister if under a fire ban.
