Hi all!

I'm attempting to plan out a trip with 4 gentlemen in their late 20's to mid 30's. Semi fit, coming over from eastern WI for a first time trip next year. We're looking at the weekend before memorial day or the the weekend after memorial day, start on Wed go through Sun for a 5 day ish trip.

It'll probably be a combination of 2 canoes and 2 kayak's. Camping and outdoors are no stranger to us, but looking for something easy going with plenty of fishing (We love walleye, but will take almost anything). The idea of 1/2 mile or longer portages isn't exactly appealing to us, but we'll take what we can get.

One route I was looking at personally was Entry point 34 to Entry point 35 with lots of fishing on Isabella or the rivers, but wasn't sure if anyone had done that.

We the idea of bringing two vehicles along, parking one at our exit and one at the entry, to provide our own method of moving between them, anyone ever done this?

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Tight lines and safe travels this year :)

That's a very short trip, but portaging kayaks isn't something hardly anyone enjoys from the sound of it. I've never been to either of those entries but that area was heavily impacted by the Pagami creek fire. Pull up the aerial imagery behind the maps on this site or any other and you'll see the scar.

For your first trip, I'd recommend another spot. Good thing, there are a TON of others to choose from. Honestly, from the sound of it do a search here and maybe a month ago or so was a "half day" thread. Good entries where a half day of travel got you to some nice areas. Not too hard, not too far, but a great start.

First I would also suggest going somewhere else. That area is mostly burn area which while neat to see isn't pretty. If you do still want to do this area I would say just do EP 35 and camp on the east side. There is some green over there. You could also go over to Boga which also looks green and provides some smaller areas to fish. You could also make it a day trip to the west side to check the river out for fish. Quick thing to note is once you enter you are not supposed to leave the bwca and re-enter.

A better option and near that area to me would be Brule Lake EP 41. Pull right up and go in. Lots of short easy routes you could do. Like Juno is a short portage for a day, Vernon, Echo, South Cone, etc are all easy day trips for some fishing. Only downside is it is a large lake that can get windy and is more popular area so you will see people.

Last thing. Isabella Lake EP 35 would be very nice in that there is a very good chance you won't see anyone else. Look at how many permits are taken around the dates you are looking at.
