I know that no tandem is a spectacular solo, but my budget only provides for one boat and utility value is front and center.
I am a 50% solo and 50% tandem type guy. I’d love to have a Magic and a NW17, but that’s not in my budget.
I just sold my Canak as it was hard with a 60lb Mountain Cur, but I absolutely loved the Canak as a solo boat. I don’t expect anything near it from a dual purpose boat, but I do want to fish from it with a dog when solo. Have had both ACLs done so I’m not a kneeler. Can’t just thwart it up in the center of a tandem type of thing.
The Polaris seems to be the go-to boat for this application, but the Wenonah Escapade has similar measurements and I can get one quite a few bucks cheaper.
I am just wondering if anyone has any experience paddling the Escapade tandem or solo? Any impressions?
Thanks in advance!
