Will be heading up in a little over a week, assuming the bugs will be bad since it looks to be warm. I have a new CCS screen tarp on the way, which will be here in time to depart. I can find all sorts of positive reviews, but nothing on setting it up.
Does anyone have any tips? I guess actually seeing it will tell me a lot, but I have one of their tundra tarps and ridgeline sacks, I can put that up in minutes. How is the screen tarp set up, seems like you would want two ridge lines -- one on each end? Pole in the middle or rope over a tree in a fortunate location? Anyone have anything they can share? How many poles? What is ideal tree layout to look for? etc. etc. etc.
Anyone have one that is willing share their thoughts?
Thanks!

We just set ours up with a single ridge line down the middle- just like any normal tarp.
Then we would go back and supplement the corners with additional tie outs to get the the height right.
It always takes some fiddling to get everything the right height and taught, but you will love the screen tarp. Its a game changer for large groups in buggy areas.
We loved playing cards(poker) in it. My brother slept in it when his hammock broke.
bring another tarp along as a wind break......

In case anyone reads this in the future...
I spoke to Dan Cooke (tent maker), and he corrected my thinking. He said to just tie out the corners, don't run ridge lines. He also mentioned that he starts with a corner tied to a tree, then does the opposite diagonal corner. After thinking about it, makes perfect sense. I'll report back after my trip, but here is my approach going in after talking to Dan.
Find two trees far enough apart for the tarp to fit diagonally, these trees will set the orientation for my screen tent and be the first two corners. This will guarantee 2 tress are perfect 45 degree angles from the 2 corners. Tie to one, pull tight with a truckers hitch to the second, and half the tarp will be up. Next, If lucky enough to have more trees in the correct locations, tie the remaining corners tight to them or use poles/sticks for those. This should allow me to get it 100% tight along all 4 sides. Find a stick to prop up the middle and tie it to the quad loop and stake it down.
I'll update this after I try it out, but I at least feel like I have a plan, and all it requires is two trees far enough apart for the diagonal of the tent.

butthead: "OOPS! Trouble adding a photo.
There, fixed it!
No screen tent yet, but I do hang my tarps in what I call an umbrella set. No center pole to mess with.

I like it, thanks! Assuming you set the diagonal between two trees, I could just use those to run the cord for the center loop. Definitely will use this, eliminates a pole right in the middle of the tent and I'm sure it drains better as well, won't fall in a storm, etc. Thanks again for sharing.

fadersup: "Hey butthead, really loving that umbrella look. Can you share your approach to getting that top line in place?"
Lots of patience and lucky tossing! Or a pole set fit together and a small bag of rocks tied to the cordage. Poke the tied bag over a suitable branch and let it slide down.

Looks like you are still polishing those old bear bag erecting skills! Maybe you miss the old hanging days more than you know.
