Hey Folks,

My grandma passed away recently and I want to take my cousin to the BWCA who has never been before, in honor of our grandma's memory. I have been on close to 100 BWCA trips, so I have all the gear and "knowledge" to make it a comfortable trip....
However, I've had several trips booked via Moose River South but something has always come up and have never been before.
Does anyone know how the current water levels are from the EP to Moose Lake? I have a call and email into the forest service but still waiting to hear back.
Thanks in advance for any info/help, it's greatly appreciated!!

We will be doing some fishing as well so any help in that department would be super helpful too!

Cheers,
Bdubr

I don’t have any info on that stretch of the river. I recently was on the Moose River north portion and water levels are low. I know historically the upper stretches of the Moose River closer to the lake can get very low during dry years. I have not been there in several years, but the last time we had to get out and pull the canoe through the river. It’s definitely doable just a little extra work.

Went through the north side two days back. It was the lowest I've ever seen it, and we've more often been through there a good month later. We measured the depth at the mouth of the Moose River where it enters Nina Moose Lake at 7 inches.

Sorry for your loss.

I went in there May 30th. At that time you could paddle all the way from the entry point to the portages, with a couple pull overs on beaver dams.

The final portage into the lake has been moved to the right of the original.

Enjoy
