Doing a trip in early August and wondering if low water levels on the Louse River and Bug Lake make this feasible this year? Thanks

Most sections are deep. Portage landings may be exposed more and tricky. Bug lake should not be a problem. The stretches just east and west of the Tool lake junction may be the worst.

Thanks for the info cowdoc. I am planning a trip there in late July and was wondering the same thing.

In the portage and campsite forum, I tried to recall the whole trip along the Louse. We went from Wine to Malberg one day.....like 16 portages if I recall. None that long but each with its own little challenge. portage and campsite forum

I've never had a problem on the Louse in late summer. For whatever reason that little creek is pretty dependable.

did the Louse in late July 2018. It was a medium water level at the time and there was plenty of water. Great little river trip with lots of portages. Couple of them are tricky.

Thanks for the feed back. Looks like this is definitely an option based on how the trip is going. Will be headed east thru here if we go, not sure if we will go thru Dent to Mesaba or try to get to Wine. I assume from Wine the little stream on the NE corner to Duck is not canoe-able.

Cow doc- aswesome info on the portage’s! Didn’t even know that forum existed! Thanks.
