We scored a last minute OM permit from Fall Lake into Basswood next week. Assume walleyes will be on reefs mid-lake. Have you had better luck on the reefs in Pipestone or Jackfish early August? Looking to base camp for a quick two nights.

Thanks.

Anyone? Perhaps nobody has fished Basswood in August.

Why not stop at a couple reefs through pipestone and if no luck then head to Jackfish.

I've heard they are catching walleye in pipestone but there 15 inches and under. Havent heard anything from Jackfish.

Thanks for your reply. We tried all over Pipestone and Jackfish and walleye fishing sucked. Trying again this weekend on the other side over Prairie Portage.

The general consensus is that fishing was poor or at least below normal everywhere up there last week (if that’s when you were there). The few groups we talked to and the reports I’ve seen here were all no good. I wouldn’t discount Basswood, ever.

Gopher, any fishing luck on the east side? I was on the west side in pipestone and came out with limits. Nothing bug, but we find them on reefs.

Tough bite again. Marking fish but not very aggressive.
