Ah kids.... My 18yo was in the stern with a 13yo up front last week and the kids basically tuned out my pleas to be careful. I knew the OEM gelcoat was cloudy in these places due to UV damage when I rebuilt this boat in 2018 but it seemed solid enough that I left them alone. Well, finally got this boat up to canoe country from LIS -> Moose River and wouldn't you know it? The kids were kind enough to find & knock off a bunch of loose gelcoat.
I plan to finish flecking off as much loose gel from these spots then filling with neat 105/206 until it's level with the surrounding material. Do I then roll with how it is, or should I consider some s-glass skid plates? Keel easy could be another option, but the other stuff I already have on hand.
Would like to take this canoe up in about 5 weeks when I show my brother what the Boundary Waters is all about.
