Every year we are again reminded of the tragedy that took place so many years ago. I remember reading about this in the newspaper when I was in High School. Rest In Peace men. The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald

Funny most people think the Edmund went down by Minnesota in the lake. But its actually over on the other side of the UP of Michigan on whitefish point I think they call it.

Im not doubting you but I’ve never heard anyone say that. If I did it would be funny.

My boys heard of the story when we were in Two Harbors over Labor Day weekend and started going down a bunch of rabbit holes on google. I knew of the wreck but not much more than that, and have since done a bunch of reading myself. The mystery that surrounds the sinking makes the story that much more intriguing. I cannot imagine being on The Mighty Fitz the night she went down. RIP

Looks like it’s north of Michigan just over the Canadian border!

It looks like Gordon Lightfoot was about right:
"The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay if they'd put fifteen more mile behind her."
