I wouldn’t be blaming Garmin, they are not the ones who gives you the service. The service plan is from a company called GEOS that partners with Garmin. They have not increased their rates since 2004, almost 15 years! I can’t say that with any of my cell phone service companies. Seems like they increase the rates every year.
So GEOS increased their rates and Garmin just passed the rate increase to us. Satellite technology, labor to run the SOS call center, and a million other things have increased too. The companies involved just pass that rate to us. I can’t believe it took this long to increase the rates. It has been quite the bargain in my opinion.
