I've always gone to BW/Q the week of Memorial Day. I just like that week for some reason/fishing. It seems like I always put in on Tues morning with the theory being that the weekend crowd comes out Monday.

Granted, in BW I usually go to higher use areas and basecamp/not go too deep, but the best sites are always taken with this strategy.

Thinking about EP 16 to Oyster or 14 LIS this year. What would your strategy be - Sun/Mon, or Tues entry? Seems like 14 would give me the most flexibility to go different lakes looking for sites.

2nd trip for 2 of us. Don't want to do a big loop - just settle into a good site with day trip options. Hard core fishing days are over but intrigued by Lakers on Oyster. Scenery seems nice in both areas.

4 nights, basecamp, not too difficult, like good site options more than extreme solitude. 6ish hours to get in. Want option to see moose.

Any other ideas for this time?

Thanks!

There are some fantastic campsites if you go in LIS and up to LLC. I really like the one at the north end of little loon and there’s one on a bluff on LLC before you get to Littl Loon that is fantastic as well. Don’t know about seeing moose though. I’ve only seen one in all

Oyster lake site #1773 is an phenomenal site if you can get it. The site closest to the portage in from the Oyster River is quite nice and there are beach sites on the south end of the lake.

Moose seem to be more scarce on the west side of BWCA.

I would definitely go with EP 16 and get into Oyster for Memorial Week timing. I would stay away from Loon Lake and Little Loon, especially during that week due to the high volume of boats tearing around on Loon. It doesn't even feel like the BWCA when you go through Loon and see all the boats.
