It depends on what you consider a good life.

Glad to see you are still out there somewhere, Float. Hope you manage a trip this summer.

Awe, who needs you right now anyway?
Don't think you are rated for solid water.

Nice. Glad to see ol' Float back. He and I did a piece together in Quetico a couple years ago.

I’m interested in hearing the pros and cons of various jackets too

Stohlquist Fisherman. It's all about the pockets. I love this jacket.

You're going to get a lot of opinions based on what's important to people. They'll all keep help you float. To me paddling comfort is paramount. I don't need lots of pockets. The NRS Ninja is my favorite. Very minimalist , one main pocket in front, and very comfortable to aggressively paddle in.

I have the NRS Chinook fishing PFD and I love it. The multiple pockets means I can store my phone and permit in one pocket and cigars or dump kit in the other (depending on water temps).

More straps means that it is more adjustable and you cam make it very comfortable. The design is also very practical and doesn't get in the way of paddling or portaging.

I use an Old Town Treble Angler. Very comfortable, plenty of storage and has held up very well through some serious paddling.

I had the greatest life jacket.

It saved my life.

Then it blew out of my boat along the highway.

Damn jacket.

+1 on the NRS Chinook fishing PFD. Very comfortable with loads of functional pockets.

I have had a lot of PFD's but the NRS Chinook is my favorite. Very comfortable and enough pockets to carry all my gear. I operate with the idea that if I capsize and can't reach the canoe, I want the gear on me to make it to shore, start a fire, handle any first aid, and call for help. In my Chinook is a first aid kit, emergency whistle, Spot Messenger, signal mirror, gps unit, rescue knife and fire starters. On a small pocket which attached to the back of the Chinook I keep a Lifestraw, small boat air horn, solar blanket and flare gun.
