This might sound dumb, but I need a decent ferro rod.

I thought "How can they be different?" Evidently some are.

I have a good 1, and a few cheap (low quality) ones. No idea where I got the good one from, but I can't seem to find it online.

Can someone point me to a ferro rod that they've actually used to start fires with?

Thanks!

I really like the Bayite ferrocerium rods. They make a 5” long 1/2 diameter rod that throws lots of sparks.

Just the opposite of Gary/SV I like the smaller survival Firesteel kits with their excellent scrapper. Buy em by the dozen for gifts, carry several spread thru packs/pockets/PFD's/campstoves. Tiny but inexpensive and easily packed. Probably carry 4/5 on each trip.
