Figured I’d post a good watch as we wait for ice out. Just finished an epic documentary on National Geographic channel called “Into The Okavango”. A documentary following the first expedition from the headwaters of the Okavango Delta in Angola to the End of the Delta in Botswana, all by canoe. For anyone who loves the wilderness and exploration, you won’t be disappointed
Yes. I enjoyed as well. Pretty amazing scenery in this one! ...Was kind of stupid about how they had to portage for so long- seems like some research could have prevented that- but I digress. Great show on Disney+!
Yeah that portaging/drag was brutal. Would’ve made sense to scout a bit before by plane perhaps, but then again, they wouldn’t have done it start to finish and realize that vast expanse of grass was actually a peat bog, vital to that river. Those canoes were amazing, definitely looked like a fiberglass version of a dug out like you said. Really cool watching them pole so much too
MReid: "Haven't seen it yet, but for those interested, here's a fiberglass makoro (canoe) in Okavango. Went there a couple of years ago--really, really neat. "
Super cool. Those things must have a pretty large capacity.
The amount of freeboard on a lot of the shots was making me nervous. Looked like a few inches above the water at most!!
