Greetings, It will be my first time up in the BWCA. Two of us are doing a 10-day fishing trip . I am looking for some advice on good lakes and tips to get into some walleye, smallmouth and pike. We will be up there early June. Thank you much.
Find points and reefs and use 1/4 oz. jigs with minnows, leeches or a chunk of nightcrawler. You can also use 3" or 4" twister tails. Bounce them down the rocks with varying lift and drop - 6"-12" or so.
Another great way to catch walleyes is using slip bobber rigs with a leech. Hook the leech through the sucker end and let it wiggle like crazy. You typically want to be within a foot or so of the bottom. That's the beauty of fishing with slip bobbers. You can adjust the depth easily... and it's deadly on walleyes.
If you want to fish specifically for pike, Daredevle-type spoons or spinner baits can work. Also the standard Rapala-type crank baits, either casting or trolling.
I'm not much of a bass guy, but when I am, it's in the evening with top water plugs. Huge fun when they're hitting. There are other jigging techniques that maybe someone else can share.

I tend to buy white, black, pink, and chartreuse, but my buddies might grab a few other colors that work just as well. Color can make a difference, but in reality, I think it's more the action as a triggering device than the color.
Also, I'll use 1/8 oz. jigs, too, and in choppy water, occasionally some 3/8 oz., but 1/4 is definitely the standard for me.
