Would be interested to know the date of this sample.
You can see definite congestion in the usual areas. Might be a useful trip planning tool to see what lakes are not over utilized and make your trip to those areas.
Never heard of this either.

Very cool, thanks for sharing.
Lakes and routes that known to be popular are definitely reflected on this heatmap.
I have uploaded a few of my routes to Strava, and can actually identify the exact track in a few places.

Ok I'll fess up. I've been known to log my canoe time in Strava.
Does that make me a stravasshole? I didn't claim anyone's KOM.
