Was at Gabbro may 26-30. Weather was on the cold side but no bugs or rain. Fishing was on the slow side. Took my wife and celebrated 1 year anniversary on the 30th. She has never fished more than off a dock and little sunnies and gills. She hit the walleye and a huge 13” crappie. Thanks for advice on fishing before we went. Live minnows on a green floating jig was the answer just above the rapids before dark. She loves the BWCA and is hooked. Enjoy the season.

Happy anniversary!
I've got a handful of pictures like that of my wife holding fish with a smile on her face. Whenever I look at one, I think about all the lucky choices I've made and all of God's grace that led to me experiencing such a beautiful and undeserved moment. It honestly doesn't get any better for me. Congratulations! What a blessing to share the outdoors with a loved one. Oh, and nice fish, too.

Happy anniversary, and yes, that is a nice sized crappie.

Congrats! Our group was at site 1710 on Gabbro May 28-31. I took my son on his first BWCA trip (my 30+) and fishing was good. Walleye bite was ok but the crappie bite was fantastic!
