What seems to be the most popular days for entering, and exiting the Boundary Waters?

Schweady has done permit studies that show Thursday is the most popular entry day of the week. Not sure about exit day but probably Sunday.

We always go in on a Sunday based on this theory. We also try to hit our target lake as early in the day as possible to snag a preferred site.

Just an observation of the reservation page shows that where permits are still available, number of Sunday-Monday permits are usually at the maximum compared with other days, Thursday - at the minimum.

I think Thursday afternoon is most popular. If you can get on the lake by 5 or 6 am then you will probably fare alright.
