Has anyone been to Northern Tier yet this year, or have a trip coming up? For those who have gone, how was the experience and the trip overall? Was it your Troop that went or were you part of a Council contingent?

Nice to see someone posting in the scouters forum.
I took my son and one of his friends. We did Lone Voyageur August 2019. Great trip! Really really awesome! Went back into the same. Area with my family last. Year during Covid. Now we’re doing Basswood, Basswood river and the falls, up into Crooked Lake to Curtain Falls this year end of July first week of August 7 night 8 day trip on the water.
I used my Northern Tier trip to learn a lot and get the exposure of how it’s done. Now we’re doing it as a family.
I’d recommend packing lite and hopefully your crew covers some miles and sees a Large portion of The BWCA.
Where are you coming from? I’m a planner and going with lone Voyageur we did t have a clue what we were going to do until like 7 pm the night before we went on water. We had two brothers and another scout get delayed coming in from New Jersey so we. Had a super late start getting organized.

I'm planning on getting in the 2023 lottery for NTier. 2022 our Troop & Crew have a 9 day Philmont trek planned.

Our Troop just returned from a 5 day BWCA trip (EP 51 loop through Tuscarora, Little Sag, Gillis to Round). I looked at NT but they were booked for our target week, immediately after our Council camp. We booked the trip through our Council camp (Makajawan, which in turn worked with Tuscarora. They provided a Scout/interpreter to join our group of 6 scouts, myself and another adult leader. I can't speak to the NT, but the High Adventure team at the camp was a pleasure to work with. Great trip. I hope to post a trip report soon.
I love Traveling.

Lionelhutz - East or West camp?
It was wonderful to see camp again this year, but man the storm damage is almost overwhelming at times.

Our Troop stays on East Camp (Cheyenne), but I spent some time over at West for our High Adventure crew swim test, and picking up my son after his OA ordeal. The damage was severe from that storm, but it was great to be back!

We stay in Sioux week 1, Troop 671.
West is nice that most of the camps are close to the dining hall, but you know... potato farm. Plus, East gets the better staff - LOL! 5 of our current or former Scouts were on staff this summer.
If your unit ever wants to use watercraft, we have 7 on a trailer w/paddles and PFDs! See you around council!
