Thought I'd pass this on, it's more of a Car Camping or Base Camp item, but it makes excellent coffee and the price is right. I gave the 48oz model a try basically looking for a way to brew some good coffee for a few coffee drinkers. It makes an outstanding cup a coffee. 5 minute steep time, has good heat retention. It certainly beats the 12 cup percolator that I'd been using, as far as time invested in waiting for the perc and the end result. They offer 20oz, 32oz and 48oz, and from the description they are blems, maybe a cosmetic fault or a misspelled logo of some kind. So it's stainless steel, with "thermos bottle" insulation. $37 for the 48oz. model.

Looks just like my old REI Press, 32 oz and have had it for years, lost the plunger knob retainer long ago and used a nut. For camping a GSI Press (we have all 3 sizes) go.
Used to be a fan of cowboy coffee, except for the inevitable grounds, the press solved the problem!

I have the 20 oz. for car camping and love it. I use Caffi Paper Coffee Filters (from Amazon) and they make cleanup a breeze.

I have been using the same coffee maker I use at home on all my wilderness adventures. Wether it back packing, canoe camping, car camping, or in my kitchen at home, I use an Aeropress. Best single cup of coffee, IMHO, going. Also, while the French Press was my go to for years, my body doesn’t miss all the unhealthy oils that go along with it. Finally, the Aeropress is by far the fastest and easiest to clean. Super lightweight and fantastic coffee. Tough combo to beat.

I agree, the Aeropress makes excellent coffee, it's compact and light, it is easy to clean, you just expel the coffee grounds hockey puck, rinse, and you're good to go. I picked up the 48oz for the convenience of having coffee ready for 3-4 coffee drinkers. I was just made aware of the oils (bad cholesterol oils) that presses
can produce. I like mcspin's recommendation of the Caffi paper filters, anything to make clean up easier while camping is a winner, and it should deal with the oils.

I would suggest that the link between unfiltered coffee and cholesterol is tenuous at best. Weak science that gets blown up by TV journalism. Italians would be flopping in the street (or Piazza) if this were true.

I have a GSI press and it works awesome. I am not taking it on a solo with me, but the more people you have to justify the additional weight/space, the more viable it becomes for sure.
Who I am precedes what I do, not the other way around.
