Hello from Humboldt SD. Heading to EP 24 June 2022 for a 6ish day trip. New to the Pipestone, Jackfish Bay area of the BWCA. Been to lakes in the area but never to the two big bays of Basswood. Curious how overly busy Pipestone Bay gets? (I know, everything is busy in June, so somewhat of a dumb question. I am also aware 25hp boats are allowed.) Also, how is the fishing here compared to the rest of Basswood?

I am going with a crew of 7 or 8 consisting of 3 or 4 kids and 4 adults. My brother, one of the adults has MS which is one of the reasons we chose this route. It seems to have two very easy portages and there are lots of sites within the first 5-8 miles from the EP, so it won't be overly stressful for him or for the kids, or for anyone else for that matter.

Any insight or advice into this area would be welcomed. Thank You!
Darin

You should be ok, lots of info on that area if you use the search button. Are you paddling from Fall lake or getting a ride on a boat?

I've been in there on a few occasions for day trips and twice overnight. It's a nice easy paddle with easy portages. There are usually quite a few people but I have found camp sites the two times I was there. The power boats have not been a problem when I was there. There are usually a few in the morning going in with fishermem and then again going out in the evening. I have seen a few shuttle boats as well. If you go far enough you can get past the area that allow motors and from there it would be a nice day trip up to Basewood Falls.
