I've ordered a Snug Top for my Ford 150. It is a Cab Hi, so it the cab in the same height at the truck cab.
I'm trying to decide between a Kargo Master and a Thule Rack system for a 17' canoe.

That is the Kargo Master, total length 9ft. I'm sure most of you are familar with Thule.
I think if I go with the Thule, I'm going to need to add something to stabilize the canoe that fits into my door jams, as the Thule installation is only on the cab. I'm not too excited about that. I definitely want to avoid any forward straps that are going to be in my sightlines while driving, as this canoe will be a permanent fixture on this truck more or less.

If I go with the Kargo Master that extends over the cab, can anyone can comment on its stability, or talk me out of going this way for a reason I don't know about?

I'll also be towing a 26" trailer if it makes a difference.

I’ve got an F150 super crew with a pair of Thule racks on the cab, I do have to put tie down straps on the front which you said you want to avoid….for longer boats, I have used a goal post in the receiver in conjunction with the racks on the cab….I’ve also done this with a receiver doubler that allows me to pull my pop up as well as use the goalpost ….might be another option for you. A buddy of mine has a fiberglass cap that he mounted tracks on from Thule….he was then able to mount 2 racks on his cap and a single rack on his cab….don’t know anything about kargomaster racks…..
