Still working to determine our entry point and possible routes. (I still have 6 days!)

Is the water between Sandpit and Basswood Lakes navigable by canoe (mid-August)?

You're talking about the short portage and little stream to Jackfish Bay? Yes, other than one more short portage it's weedy but floatable

Given what I saw at the end of last season, I would not rely on anything shallow being navigable unless it was confirmed to be that last year. The drought had a huge impact on water levels and it has not actually ended yet.

The Range River to Basswood is nearly always navigable. However Picketts Creek from the parking lot to Mudro can be a bear in low water.
