I'll be heading to Ely this weekend and thought about spending a night on Slim lake. Is there a parking area on North Arm road or is the parking area for Slim plowed?
It's been several years since I've been to Slim in the winter and it was not plowed then. Not sure if anything changed since then.
Thanks.

The Slim Lake parking area is plowed and there is packed ski trail on the portage to the lake. There is also parking in the North Arm Trails parking lot further down the North Arm Road. However if you enter via the North Arm Trails I must point out that dragging a sled or pulk down an established ski trail is an act of extreme selfishness (This opinion does not apply to the portage trail).

Thanks for the info.
I agree with your comment about sleds/pulks on established ski trails, unless it is a pulk designed for using on groomed ski trails.
