I enjoyed the article. The picture of them standing in a canoe is crazy.

Is it, though? I've never had an issue with it (obviously, something could go wrong and you certainly need to use good judgment on when or when not to stand. And you always need partner approval, of course.)... I've stood in a canoe many times and have never come close to an accident. Bring on the ensuing criticism lol. Aside from that, it is a fun read - thanks for sharing, bobber.

Great article! Only 72 nights left to dream before my first trip this spring!

Just skimmed the article but the pictures give me daydreams of paddling.

As for standing, I've done it to take pictures when a bit more elevation helps. It does seem odd because we're often told not to do it. Well, except when we were gunwale pumping canoes back when I was a camp lifeguard. Our tandem canoes are more stable than my stand-up paddle board. And that thing is designed to stand on! But yeah, ask your partner first.

Standing (and poling) on rivers is totally normal.

I done some paddling in the last 60 years along with rafting and drift boats. Now I am 71 and having some heart issues. I just hope to keep going out there for another 10 years.
