I have a lot of stuff that I've bought over the years that I need to let go of. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed to the point that I doubt if I will get to go on another BWCA trip in my lifetime. Never say never, but I have a young family now and will probably not do a wilderness type trip. With that being said, I will start by listing my paddle.

Used One time on Devils Lake Wisconsin as we brought my Wenonah Minnesota canoe there and did a short trip around the lake.

I have a Bending Branches Expresso Plus Canoe Paddle that I will sell for $120. Paddle length is 58 inches.

Seven-laminate black willow blade provides a powerful stroke for excellent flatwater cruising performance
Rockgard® protects the paddle blade, wrapping around the corners onto blade edges
Ergonomically designed contour grip and ovalized shaft provide hours of paddling comfort
Multiple-step varnishing process extends life of paddle

This is my favorite paddle! If it we're my size I would snap it up in a heartbeat, hard to find. I talked to an employee at Bending Branches a few years ago and the black willow disappeared from their supply chain. He had seven Espresso Plus paddles and wouldn't sell me any of them!

I am interested in your paddle, but would like to see a couple photos of the side of the shaft. I am interested to know if it has any laminations or if it just a single shaft of wood. I am in Duluth - where are you located?
Thanks,
UW

So to answer questions, this is a straight paddle, not curved and I have many more pictures I will send to email addresses. I am located in Elgin, IL. I would need to charge for shipping should it be shipped. The shaft looks to be laminated. I can get detailed pictures of the shaft.

Thanks for the info. It is a beautiful paddle, but shipping costs have gotten so outrageous these days that I will have to pass. Take care, UW

Don't let that slow you down- kids in the wilderness is easy. Been done for 10,000 years. My 3 year old will be in on his 5th this summer and his younger brother his 2nd.

Kenny - wait a couple years and then start taking the kids on easy - no or minimal short portage type trips. Lots of people do that. Kids don't have to mean the end of your favorite pasttimes, you just have to evolve. Your first trips will be harder because most of the work will be on you. As they get older, they'll take on more responsibility. Please seek out Ducks' numerous trip reports for inspiration and guidance.

A PLB or Inreach type device can help assuage any fears mom might have.

Thanks for all the support in terms of encouragement to go back north. I've been to BWCA and Quetico maybe 6-7 trips in my life, the last one was in 2012 with a close friend who asked me to take him there one more time. He passed away a year later. Apparently that was the one thing he really wanted to do again and we had been to Ella Hall lake back in the 70s.

Now married with 8 year old daughter we contemplated a trip to Rainy Lake but alas, that's not going to happen. I might end up going back with a group of people but nothing has materialized yet. I'm not really connected to anyone planning a trip so I would need to do some digging around, getting connected. Covid fears have stopped me from doing anything like that yet.

I dream about doing a fly-in trip on a remote Canadian lake where you do have a cabin to stay in... canoe and fish all day but come back to home base. I love the scenery but when combined with fishing, it is a paradise. Maybe one day...
