Heading to the north/south temperance area in early June. Never caught a lake trout but wife and I wouldnt mind giving it a whirl. Any day trips from here that may be a good option? We have never been to the temperance area before.

That depends on what constitutes a day trip for you. It wouldn't be quick, or easy, but you can go up into Cherokee or one short portage farther and try your luck in Town Lake. The portages between North Temperance and Cherokee are no simple task, with the second one (between Sitka and Cherokee) being the more challenging.

...agree, Cherokee is the only realistic option. As mentioned, the last portage into Cherokee (from N. Temperance) is very challenging- for a maintained portage.

My daughter & I did that daytrip in reverse last spring, as we were looking for walleyes. :)

Not lake, but brook trout option is doable by heading to Wench lake off of Brule.
Also a tough portage.

Cherokee is a good option. The lake trout aren't plentiful, but the ones i've caught were some of the most beautifully colored lakers i've come across in the BW.
