For those who are hardcore BW planners - nothing is better than a great set of online maps which Voyageur had up until a software change in 2021. I don't know how long this new version ( and maybe someone has all ready posted this, my bad) has been back up and running , but it's sweet and I will be making a purchase from them very soon because of this free online tool and not from other competitors in BW map business.

From the main screen which should download a "full version" of the Sawbill area you can change your map of choice on the right under "maps" and wait for the download and then zoom and pan. All other 9 maps (other than the full version of Sawbill) are not "full" and will not have campsite numbers or portage difficulty rating. SO EXCITED this back up and running!!! Thank you Voyageur Maps!!!

Thanks for the update. I miss using this tool for planning. I have all of their maps and several duplicates, but it is nice to just get online for planning.

Yes, thanks for the update. I always appreciated that I could look at their maps, zoom in, and know exactly what was covered vs. the others. I'm guessing that since the one has camp #'s & difficulty rating that will come to the others in the future. Like Amarillo Jim I have a full set and some duplicates, but nice to be able to get online.

Yay, I've made due with other ways but theirs are the best.

I've already got a full set of their paper maps (from this site) but I like to see them on the computer. Easier to do screenshots and share and such

Thanks, WhiteWolf, for this tip. I have the full set of Voyageur Maps on paper and never knew there had previously been an online version. Glad it's back. Thank you, Voygeur Maps!!

Yeah they had all their maps on their site and you could pull them up one by one and see in perfect detail each map and zoom in and pan and stuff

The Voyageur maps are nice and that's the paper maps I take in with me but for online planning I would be lost without . Drawing out routes with time estimates is awesome. The updated version also has any map source overlay that is out there satellite, topo, etc... There is a free version that has some features but the pay versions are cheap. There is one level of membership that comes with features like BWCA permit data and you can set alerts for entry points for permit availability.

They're great. The only thing that is included on their paper maps that you're missing when grabbing a screenshot of the online maps are the campsite numbers and their "portage difficulty" numbers. Certainly not a big deal, as no other company's paper maps have those printed, either. (that I know of) The online views - like the paper versions - even show historical wildfire boundaries, which they say are updated every 3 years or so. (I don't see the 2021 fires shown.)
