We've had an occasional visit from a male pileated wood pecker for the last couple of years. He'd come to our feeders to hit the suet a couple of times a week (that we saw). Yesterday we found him at the base of the power pole in the back yard. I'm speculating he may have touched the wrong wires and got electrocuted.

So sad. They are one of my favorite birds. Can u give it to the diner for medical or educational purposes?
