Hello,
Just wanted to put some feelers out there on any tips or must see locations/attractions in the Little Gabro area. The idea is to fish most of this trip, entering on Little Gabro lake and either traveling east to stay Bald Eagle or going North up the South Kawishiwi River and staying in that area. Curious if anyone has any insight if one area would be better to stay and then travel to a different area to fish? This will be our first trip where we do not plan on portaging too much, so definitely not used to all the time we will have to relax and fish this time around. We will definitely do a day trip hopefully to some falls or cliffs in that area, just haven't really looked into it much until now. I appreciate any feedback!! This trip is the beginning of September if that makes any difference. Thanks again

Hey Ryan,

We paddled the triangle about a month ago. Beautiful area. Had a great trip! We didn't do all that great fishing but did catch enough for fish frys. There are plenty of sites to explore and the portages are simple, except the long one up by Conchu Lake - it isn't complicated, just longer than average. The waterfall on portage 608 is impressive if you want to paddle that far north. We did see more wildlife along the northern area and way fewer people.

Clear Lake was gorgeous with really nice campsites - caught fish there too but not a lot. There were quite a few people in the area but perhaps with school starting soon your trip in early September might be less congested.

I haven't been to Bald Eagle...yet. If you go that route would love to hear about your experience. Enjoy your trip!

Hey!

Thanks for all of the feedback. I think we will definitely look into making that trek for the waterfalls. Mainly wanted to "live off the land" as much as possible so fish will be a requirement eventually. I think one way or another we will check out bald eagle for a night bite?? Who knows? lol, sometimes that's the best part about these relaxed trips, so much time to explore!

Thanks again
