Heading up to Ely with my wife and staying in a cabin on Burntside Lake.

She's a bit of a novice and I'm hoping to put her on some nice fish. It's my first time fishing Burntside. Any tips would be appreciated?

Beautiful lake! Lots of fishing options. I suggest stopping in to one of the local bait shops and asking for tips - helps if you buy bait from them too! Arrowhead Outdoors has been helpful when we've gone there.

Water is very clear. Fish very early in the morning. I would even employ the thought of a couple hours after dark.crank baits would be my 1st choice. Vary the retrieve. A large jerk bait with 1/8oz jig head and again vary retrieve

Burntside is so loaded with bass, even a novice can look like a pro! Keep it simple, twister tails or spinners along rocky shorelines. Crankbaits along deeper shorelines. Smallies and rock bass will keep her busy. Decent chance at a quality size pike also.
