Come late June, I'll be heading north on the Stuart River for an 8-9 day solo trip. Initial plan is to stay a night on Stuart, which was the first lake I ever stayed at in the BW. Then 2 nights on Iron, catching all of the fish in that lake (I'll release all but 2 of them). I've got a PMA permit reserved so I can stay on Sunday the next night. That'll be my first foray into a PMA. Then it'll be 2 nights on Bertram, Thunder, or Gull (any advice here?).

And here's where my real questions come in. I've been in and out of Mudro numerous times so I'm thinking of coming out at either Angleworm or S. Hegman. Never been that way and would love to check that area of my visited list. My initial, ambitious plan is to spend a final night on Little Bass. I really like these out of the way, dead end lakes.

Happy to hear any and all advice, though I reserve the right to completely change my mind, stay on Stuart the whole time, and come out the way I came in.

This is not my first solo. Been on a half dozen solo trips now. Most of my other trips involve me "guiding" since I've got the gear and the experience.

Sounds like a fine plan. The only concern for most folks are the long portage options out of the south end of Angleworm. Longer one is easier...the one to Trease is notorious. The long-but-not-angleworm-long portages between Gull & Home and between Beartrap Lake & the Beartrap River are both fairly simple. Sunday lake is OK - nothing great and certainly nothing bad about it. Others like Beartrap, Gull, Angleworm are more scenic. Have fun!

Since I'm starting at Stuart, I'll have hit a long one early. By the end of the trip, I should be a finely tuned machine. Hadn't heard about the difference between the two portage options out of Angleworm, though. Interesting.
