Has anyone been up to Opasquia in the last few years. I noted a trip report close to 10 years ago but was wondering if there was more recent information. Specifically the condition of the portages. Thanks.

I really doubt you will find any info. The port age use is from local hunters coming in from Island Lake in Manitoba. Recreational paddlers rarely get up there. Big Hook has outposts fishing cabins in the park. When I went I used his operation of flights to get to his Central Lake hub and rented a canoe from them. That air operation is gone now so his guests fly four at a time and go directly to their outpost cabin from Red Lake ,Ont.

Working with Big Hook made our trip low costs. I would check with them to see if arrangements could be worked out. I have a video of the trip on my YouTube channel but be aware that transport system is no longer used.

I know it can be a bucket list thing but do not think it is worth it unless you are all about the great fishing. I much prefer paddling Atikaki in Manitoba. Better scenery, excellent fishing and very few other paddlers. No maps either but I can share my GPS files with the routes I have travelled.
