I am very new to the BWCA experience. Just bought a small Hook 4 finder. Now I need a way to attach it to the canoe. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a very helpful thread on this very topic in the fishing forum here, just a few topics below your post with some great setups from the smart folks on here with some great pictures. It's titled "What sonar setup do you use??"

gripper, welcome to the forum.

As shouldertripper mentioned there is a lot of great info on the forum already.

There are many ways to setup your fish finder for canoe use. The method that I use and prefer, is to go with a RAM mount system. This consists of three parts, a u-bolt mount that connects to the thwart, a double arm socket, and another ball that mounts to the fish finder itself. It is a very versatile setup allowing for infinite adjustment and easy removal.

Here is my Hook 4 in action. (You may have a Hook2 4X as the original Hook 4 is out of production. Note the Portrait orientation of the screen vs the landscape orientation on the hook2 models. They use different RAM adapters, so be sure of which you have before purchasing.)

Ram Mounts Tough Claw (Small) should get you clamped onto the thwart without any tools needed for on/off.
