I am in the beginning stages of planning for next year's trip and have an interest in Tesaker and Trillium lakes. These are smaller lakes located in the BWCA accessed via portage from Lac La Croix.

I am able to find plenty of fishing information on Trillium but nothing on Tesaker. What species of fish are in Tesaker (if any)?

Also, are the portages fairly easy to find and would you rate them easy, moderate, difficult?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Tesaker: 2020 and 2023. Lots of really small blue gills on worms, fun to catch a bunch (for kids or big kids) with just a small chunk of worm on your smallest hook (8 or 10) dangling just under the water. Saw lots of what I assume were rock bass. Portage from Gun to Tesaker is mismarked on maps, it's on the North side of the inlet. After muddy start from Gun (water 3-4 feet high in May so may not be normal) with several downed trees on Gun side, an easy portage. From Tesaker to Tak easy, believe it was downhill from Tesaker to Tak. It might be easier to go from Tak to Gun via LLC instead of going through Tesaker.
Trillium: 2023. Decided not to fish Trillium after walking the portage (steep up and down) and based on good SMB fishing in Tak (if LT aren't cooperating).

Noslen,
Thank you for your input and info share; much appreciated. I have fished Tak through the years but have not ventured to the lakes I mentioned in my post.
Thanks again. I look forward to hearing from others.

We didn't fish tesaker when we went through there, but I remember it being extremely buggy and one of the less maintained portages. But right above tesaker is trygg, which contains some great trout fishing. Never made it through the trillium portage, it was super overgrown when we reached it and finially realized we werent at the tesaker portage anyway. Ive read that trillium has an abundance of bass though. Good luck and happy paddling!
