So an old friend of mine has fond memories of going to Ely when she was a kid. For the past 20 years I've been going to the Gunflint. So I'm out of the loop and looking for some advice on cabin rental in Ely. There's only the two of us, she'd like day trip canoe opportunities and some decent fishing on the lake we'd be staying at.

We stayed in a cabin at the Canoe Country Outfitters Moose Lake Base. Basic clean accomodations at a very reasonable price. We day tripped on Moose - to PP one day and Wind Lake another - and drove to Snowbank for a days paddle. Also hiked: Secrete,Blackstone; Bass Lake; and Kawishiwi Falls.

You might check out Kawishiwi Lodge on Lake One. They do a nice job and are handy for day trips.

I found big difference in price. Just saying.
