I am sure this is not a new subject. Are there kits specific to a given tent?
Apologies if this is old worn out subject. Mine in question is a MSR Hubba Hubba NX Thanks for your help.

While I suspect some tent manufacturers make a kit specific to their individual models, you'd probably pay a premium for those kits. Measure the shock cord diameter (3mm is frequently used), measure the total pole length, and buy the cord in bulk, then use the old cord to pull the new cord into place. And there are lots of videos on the subject on YouTube, perhaps even for your specific tent.

I did a couple of tents last year after watching some Youtube videos. Here's one I'd suggest watching a couple of others but once you have some ideas about what and how to do it, it's not hard. You can get shock cord a lot of places like Bear Paw Wilderness Designs, Tent Pole Technologies, and Quest Outfitters off the top of my head.

You can also find shock cord in bulk at outdoor fabric websites, and sometimes the stuff sold at craft stores (Michaels, Joanne fabrics, hobby stores etc) is good enough quality to use in replacing it for your poles. I highly recommend you keep a vice grip tool handy as a “third hand” to hold the stretched cord on the next-to-last pole section while you thread and then fasten the last pole section and the end stopper for the cord relaxed.

That's a great tip!

Just replaced shock cords on my Chinook solo 9 year old tent.
Used cord from Amazon(Tan%2C%2B1%2F8%2BInch%2BX%2B25%2BFeet)&qid=1697290055&sprefix=paracord%2Bplanet%2Bshock%2Bcord%2B-%2Bmarine%2Bgrade%2Bbungee%2B-%2B100%25%2Bstretch%2B-%2Bmoisture%2C%2Buv%2C%2Bweather%2Bresistant%2Bdiy%2Bprojects%2C%2Btie%2Bdowns%2C%2Brecreation%2Bindoor%2Band%2Boutdoor%2Btan%2C%2B1%2F8%2Binch%2Bx%2B25%2Bfeet%2B%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-1&th=1
Often the cord is too thick when attached to the new cord to pull thru the sections jointers. I set the pole, removed the old cord, and just inserted new cord from the connection end 1 pole piece at a time. All pieces strung and one end anchored pull the stretch cord just tight enough, clamp the end with forceps, secure the remaining end.
Easton poles use a hot melt glue end or simply retained by the cord, DAC poles have a threaded termination that screws on and off, bot have a hook termination that the cord can be tied too. Keep the knot small and tight 9mm poles will just fit with knotted 3mm cord.

Part of my problem is that a well meaning family member stripped all of the shock cord out of the tubing. Thanks to every one for your help. I will sort it out.

On my REI tent, I just pushed the new shock cord through after I removed the old. My old cord was so stretched out and shot that I couldn't really measure the length. I numbered the pole sections so I could make sure I did it in the right order because there were a LOT of sections. Once I fastened one end, I put a little tension on it before attaching the other end. Was easy, peasy even for a not very handy person like me.

Works for Helinox chairs too.

Same here. Ordered shockcord from REI. The old stuff getting stretched out and worn is pretty common, so I always check out the poles before a trip, if i haven’t used that tent in awhile.
